Nutritional Requirements Across the Lifespan

When deciding to bring a child into the world the father and mother must be wise together in examining the eating and drinking habits because fertility could be affected, before pregnancy all women should be an appropriate body weight because if the woman doesn’t have the proper weight the baby could be born with a low birth weight which is classified as being born with less than 5.5 pounds. Also it is noted that a woman’s nutrition before pregnancy is crucial because it determines if her uterus will be able to support the growth of a healthy placenta.  Once the baby has been born infants typically grow faster in the first year after birth than ever in life, This rapid growth and metabolism of the infant demand an ample supply of nutrients to aid in the growing process of the child. Due to the size of the baby the need smaller total amounts of these nutrients than adults do, but as a percentage of body weight, babies need more than twice as much of most nutrients. As a child gets older the calorie intake increases as well, Sizer & Whitney (2017) states that as a child gets older that the caloric increase by every 200 calories each year. As adolescence and adult hood progresses the protein, carbs, and fats are dietary are necessities to the keys of life. There ways would be to read food labels, making smart healthier food choices, and exercising regularly. The consequences to not doing these things could lead to chronic diseases.
